Hand-carved by RTRW
This new box was placed on our recent trip to central Florida.
It is located on the grounds of the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
There is a guard when you enter the drive of the lodge. You will have to tell him/her that you are going to the lodge for breakfast or lunch. They don't check your exit so you don't have to worry about leaving shortly after you enter.
Drive to the left after the guard house towards the parking lot.
New Info: This is a very active box and we appreciate all of the feedback we've gotten on it. We just received word of a great idea that we wanted to share. Once you tell the guard that you are there for breakfast/lunch/dinner, ask for a 3 hour pass. One of our recent finders did that and were able to enjoy the grounds with all of the many animals at various viewing stations and the African art that is located in the huge main lobby.
We were told by guides there that this is the largest collection of African art second only to those collections found in Africa! If you stroll down one of the ground floors where the rooms are located, you will notice that each room has a hand-carved shield on the entry door. A guide told Sue & I that each one is different - no two are alike although the differences might be subtle. They are all carved by one African man and were imported along with the rest of the extensive collection of artwork available. There is staff on hand walking around the lobby that will be happy to talk about the various aspects of the collection.
Don't be hesitant to ask questions - they don't know you are there boxing!! :-)
